It may come at a price approximately $100 higher
Recent leaks reveal that the upcoming iPad mini 8 with an OLED screen won't arrive before the third quarter of 2026 at the earliest.
Reports from Apple's supply chain and display manufacturers' schedules confirm the delayed launch, indicating that the iPad mini upgrade with an OLED screen will extend into next year.
The iPad mini 8 with an OLED screen is now expected to launch between the third and fourth quarters of 2026, not late 2025 or early 2026 as previously rumored, according to a report by the tech news site Digital Trends, which was reviewed by MobiAllo.
According to the Korean website ETNews, citing informed sources, the device will use an 8.4-inch OLED display from Samsung, specifically designed for tablets, with mass production slated to begin in mid-2026.
In addition to the OLED display, the new iPad Mini is expected to feature the more powerful A19 Pro chip and may include features such as water resistance and other improvements, representing a significant upgrade over previous generations.
With these improvements, Apple may price the device higher; analysts predict an increase of up to $100 compared to the current starting price of the iPad Mini.
On the positive side, the iPad Mini's OLED display will bring several advantages, such as higher contrast, improved HDR support, and enhanced battery efficiency.
With the A19 Pro chip, the iPad Mini may also receive a significant processing boost, sufficient for demanding applications, drawing, reading, and even gaming, making it more than just a basic tablet.
On the other hand, a potential price increase of $100 means this small device may fall out of the budget tablet category.
