Huawei officially launches the Mate 80 series with powerful specifications

Huawei has officially announced the launch of its all-new Huawei Mate 80 series in the Chinese market, which includes four flagship phones powered by the Kirin 9030 and Kirin 9030 Pro processors. The series is currently available only in China, with a global rollout planned for the near future.

Huawei Mate 80 specifications

  • The phone weighs 217 grams and measures 161.9 x 76 x 8 mm.
  • It features a plastic back and an aluminum frame, and boasts IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance.
  • It supports dual 5G SIM cards but lacks a microSD card slot for expandable storage.
  • The device features a 6.75-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 2832 (FHD+), a pixel density of 460 ppi, and a 120Hz refresh rate.
  • The display is protected by Huawei Kunlun Glass 2. The phone is powered by a Kirin 9020 processor and comes with either 256GB of storage with 12GB of RAM or 512GB of storage with 16GB of RAM.
  • On the front, there's a 13MP selfie camera with an f/2.4 aperture and support for 2160p@60fps video recording. The rear features a triple-lens camera system consisting of a 50MP main camera with a variable aperture of f/1.4-f/4.0, optical image stabilization (OIS), and laser autofocus (LAS); a 40MP ultra-wide camera with an f/2.2 aperture; and a 12MP periscope lens with an f/3.4 aperture, OIS, and up to 5.5x optical zoom.
  • The rear cameras also support 2160p@60fps video recording with electronic image stabilization (EIS).
  • The phone has stereo speakers but lacks a traditional 3.5mm headphone jack.
  • Additional features include NFC, an IR blaster for device control, a 3D Time-of-Flight (TOF) sensor, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and Face ID support.
  • The battery has a capacity of 5750mAh and supports 66W fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and 5W reverse charging.
  • The device charges via a USB Type-C port.
  • The phone is available in black, white, green, and gold.

The 256GB/12GB RAM version was priced at approximately $665, while the 512GB/12GB RAM version was priced at approximately $735, and the top-of-the-line 512GB/16GB RAM version was available for approximately $775.

The Pro version comes with the same specifications as the regular version, with the following differences:

  • The 12GB RAM version uses a Kirin 9030 processor, while the 16GB RAM version uses a Kirin 9030 Pro processor.
  • The cameras are the same, but the pre-scope lens is 48MP with an f/2.1 aperture, optical image stabilization, and up to 4x optical zoom.
  • It supports 100W fast charging, 80W wireless charging, 18W reverse charging, and 20W reverse wireless charging.

The Huawei Mate 80 Pro is priced as follows in China:

The 256GB/12GB RAM version is priced at approximately $845, while the 512GB/12GB RAM version is priced at approximately $915. The top-of-the-line 512GB/16GB RAM version is available for $990, and the 1TB/16GB RAM version reaches approximately $1130.

The Pro Max version comes with the same specifications as the Pro version, with the following differences:

  • Weight: 239 grams; Dimensions: 8.3 x 79 x 164.4 mm
  • All-aluminum exterior
  • Same screen, but 6.9 inches with a resolution of 1320 x 2848 (FHD+) and a pixel density of 455 ppi, with a brightness of up to 8000 nits
  • Same rear cameras, with the addition of a second 50-megapixel periscope lens with an f/3.2 aperture, optical image stabilization, and up to 6.2x optical zoom
  • 6000 mAh battery.

The Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max has been launched in China with prices starting at $1,125 for the 512GB version with 16GB of RAM, while the top-of-the-line 1TB version with 16GB of RAM comes at a price of approximately $1,265.

The RS Ultimate comes with the same specifications as the Pro Max, with the following differences:

  • Weight: 245 grams
  • Titanium frame
  • Huawei Kunlun Glass 3 screen protection
  • 512GB or 1TB storage with 20GB RAM

The Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max was priced in the Chinese market at around $1690 for the 512GB version with 20GB RAM, while the 1TB version with 20GB RAM costs around $1830.
