Finnish company Jolla has unveiled its return to the market with a new phone called the Jolla Phone, presented as a "standalone European Linux phone with a 'Do It Together' approach."
The phone prioritizes privacy, with no tracking, hidden data collection, or silent connection to corporate servers. It runs on Sailfish OS 5, which the company describes as currently the only European operating system for phones, and allows users to completely remove Google services despite supporting Android apps.
In terms of hardware, the device features a powerful MediaTek processor, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of expandable storage via microSD. It also boasts a 6.36-inch AMOLED display with Full HD resolution and a pixel density of 390ppi, protected by Gorilla Glass.
The phone has a 50MP main camera and a 13MP ultrawide camera, while the selfie camera specifications have not yet been revealed.
It also comes with a removable 5500mAh battery and a swappable back cover available in three colors: white, black, and orange.
Other features include a fingerprint sensor, 5G and NFC support, dual SIM capability, and a physical privacy switch that completely disables the camera, microphone, and Bluetooth. The company plans to provide system updates for at least five years.

Despite the official announcement, manufacturing will only begin if 2,000 pre-orders are reached by January 4, 2026. The 1,200 pre-order mark has already been surpassed, increasing the likelihood of a launch.
Pre-orders are available for €99, while the full price is €499. If the target is not met, users will receive a full refund.
Shipping is expected to begin in the first half of 2026, with initial availability in the EU, UK, Switzerland, and Norway, followed by market expansion based on demand.
