The Galaxy S26 Ultra will receive a long-awaited wireless charging upgrade

Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra appears poised to receive a long-awaited upgrade: ultra-fast wireless charging.

Android Authority discovered a reference to "ultra-fast wireless charging" in the code of the One UI 8.5 update.

This likely hints at the previously rumored 25W fast wireless charging expected for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, according to a report by the site, which was reviewed by Mobi Alo.

The Galaxy S26 and S26+—along with the Ultra model in the Galaxy S26 series expected to launch in early 2026—may feature 20W fast wireless charging.

With wireless charging up to 25W, the Galaxy S26 Ultra's expected 5,200mAh battery will likely charge from 0% to 100% in about an hour.

This is roughly the same wired fast charging speed as this year's Galaxy S25 Ultra's 45W.

Samsung introduced wireless charging to its phones in 2014 with the Galaxy S5 and has gradually increased its speed every few years, using the Qi standard.

In addition to faster wireless charging speeds, all Galaxy S26 series phones are expected to feature built-in magnets to automatically align the device with a compatible wireless charger, making it easier to use.

This will make the phones compatible with Qi2 accessories such as Wallets, carrying handles, charging mounts, car chargers, and power bands.

While most Chinese brands offer wireless charging up to 50W in their high-end phones, they use proprietary charging technologies to achieve these speeds, whereas Apple, Google, and Samsung adhere to the Qi wireless charging standard in their phones and other mobile devices.
