A Major Update Bringing Performance Enhancements, Security Improvements, and New User Experience Features
Apple has officially released iOS 26.2 and iPadOS 26.2 for supported iPhones and iPads, introducing a range of improvements and new features designed to enhance usability and boost productivity.
iOS 26.2 introduces a new feature that allows users to set an automatic alarm for reminders and adjust the clock's transparency on the lock screen. The update also includes significant improvements to AirDrop performance and new features within the Podcasts app.
In a further expansion, the update enables Live Translation for real-time translation via AirPods in the European Union and adds support for alternative app stores and third-party voice assistants in Japan.
Meanwhile, iPadOS 26.2 focuses on a smoother and more intuitive multitasking experience. Users can now drag and drop apps directly from the Dock, Spotlight Search, or App Library into various view modes, including Slide Over.
Swiping the app to the far right or left activates Slide Over mode, while swiping it to the sides opens a split-screen view. Swiping the app to the center of the screen opens a zoomable window, with visual indicators showing the view type before you select it.
iOS 26.2 and iPadOS 26.2 are available for download now. If you don't see the update notification, you can go to Settings > General > Software Update and manually install the update.
