GTA 6 Is Not Ready Yet and May Be Delayed Again

GTA 6 remains in development as reports say the game is not finished yet, raising doubts about its planned November 2026 release date worldwide soon.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Reportedly Not Ready, Release May Be Postponed Again

GTA 6

Despite more than 12 years having passed since Rockstar Games released Grand Theft Auto V, the highly anticipated GTA 6 is still in development and has yet to reach its final stage.

Rockstar officially announced the game in December 2023, with an initial release date set for late 2025, before it was later delayed to May 26, 2026.

Rockstar: We Need More Time to Reach the Required Quality

Last year, Rockstar announced another delay for the game, justifying the decision by stating the need for more time to refine the final experience. The company said in an official statement at the time:

"These additional months will give us the time necessary to deliver the game at the level you expect and deserve."

Reports: The Game Is Not Yet Complete

Despite the repeated delays, recent reports indicate that the game is still not finished.

Renowned journalist Jason Schreier of Bloomberg revealed during his appearance on the Button Mash podcast on Spotify that work on the game is far from complete.

According to TechRadar, Schreier stated:

"The last I heard, the game isn't finished in terms of content yet."

Developers are still working on missions and content.

Schreier explained that the development teams are still finalizing some key elements, such as missions and levels, and determining the final content that will be included in the full version of the game.

He added: "They're still building things, and hopefully they'll finish soon so they can begin the bug-testing phase."

The new release date… Is it final?

GTA 6 is currently scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, but Schreier expressed his doubts about this date, emphasizing that no one at Rockstar can say with 100% certainty that the game will be released on that date.

He said:

"Although November seems more realistic than previous dates, I don't think anyone can confirm it definitively."

Fears of another delay due to the project's scale

Schreier pointed out that the project's size and sensitivity make any mistake unacceptable, explaining:

"The stakes are very high. The fate of Take-Two's stock is tied to this game. It won't be released until it's completely finished, and even if we reach October and it's not 100% ready, it's likely to be delayed again."

Take-Two CEO remains optimistic

Despite these doubts, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, remains confident of a November 2026 release date, although he had previously expressed confidence that the game wouldn't be delayed beyond May of the same year.
