Chinese company Xiaomi launched its new Xiaomi 17 Ultra smartphone with advanced photography capabilities on Saturday, ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.

Xiaomi collaborated with German camera manufacturer Leica to release the Xiaomi 17 Ultra under their joint brand. As part of this partnership, Xiaomi is using Leica lenses and designing filters inspired by the German company's style.

Specifications

The phone features a 50-megapixel main camera with an f/1.67 aperture and a 1-inch sensor, according to a report by TechCrunch, which was reviewed by MobiAlo.

However, the most notable feature is the 200-megapixel telephoto camera, which boasts a variable focal length ranging from 75 to 100mm. This translates to optical zoom between 3.2x and 4.3x. The phone also includes a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 aperture.

The phone comes with a 6,000mAh battery (the Chinese version has a larger 6,800mAh battery). It can be charged using a 90W USB PD-PPS charger and supports Xiaomi's 50W HyperCharge wireless charging technology.

The device features a 6.9-inch Xiaomi HyperRGB OLED display, protected by Xiaomi's Shield Glass 3.0.

The company opted for Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, the same processor used in Samsung's new Galaxy S26 series.

Xiaomi is releasing a special Leica edition of the phone to celebrate the camera company's 100th anniversary. The device boasts a durable aluminum alloy body with an anodized nickel finish. Xiaomi has also incorporated Leica's signature design into the software.

The device includes a rotating ring that mimics the zoom functionality of traditional cameras. The special edition also features a "Leica Essential Mode," which includes filters that recreate the image quality of the Leica M9 and Leica M3 cameras.

Xiaomi has launched the Xiaomi 17 flagship phone with a larger 6,330mAh battery, supporting 100W fast charging using Hyper Charge technology.

Accessories

Xiaomi is launching two photography accessories for the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. The first, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Photography Kit, connects via Bluetooth and attaches to the phone. It features a dual-stage shutter button and a dedicated video recording button.

The second, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Photography Kit Pro, mimics a traditional camera with its leather-like design, video recording button, detachable shutter button, and zoom control. It connects via USB-C and includes a 2,000mAh battery.
