OpenClaw AI app launched for iOS and Android
OpenClaw, an open-source project specializing in the development of artificial intelligence agents, has announced the launch of an official native application for iOS and Android, giving users a more convenient way to interact with the smart agent via smartphones, with support for text and voice conversations, automation management, and approval of task execution.
What is OpenClaw?
OpenClaw is an open-source AI agent capable of automating tasks, not just responding to queries. It connects to large language models like ChatGPT, Cloud, and Gemini to execute commands and manage tasks such as searching, summarizing content, and running applications.
The project is considered a leading next-generation AI agent capable of performing actual tasks on behalf of the user and has garnered significant global attention. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang previously described it as "the most important software release in history."
Features tailored for smartphones
The smartphone app allows users to connect their phones to the OpenClaw Gateway server located on macOS, Linux, or Windows devices via WSL2, the Linux subsystem for Windows. The app acts as a companion interface and does not run the smart agent locally on the phone.
The app supports all the functions available in the OpenClaw text interface, in addition to new features specifically designed for mobile devices.
These features include real-time voice chat, action approval, content sharing from iPhones, and optional access to phone capabilities such as the camera, screen, location, photos, contacts, calendar, and reminders. These features are available in both Android and iOS versions.
Link via QR code
To connect the application to the server, the user needs to execute the /pair qr command within the OpenClaw interface. A QR code will then appear, which can be scanned by the application to complete the pairing process. The project also provides a manual pairing option by entering the server address and port number.
A more focused interface
OpenClaw previously offered access to its services via apps such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Discord, Teams, and Matrix, but the new native app offers a simpler, more focused interface, while taking advantage of phone capabilities such as the camera, geolocation, and screen sharing.
Security warnings
The developers of OpenClaw emphasize the importance of security, warning of the risks of command injection attacks that could target AI agents.
They recommend that users rely on authentication, tool usage policies, security isolation, and explicit consent for operations, rather than solely on scripted instructions.
