Galaxy Ring 2 May Face Delayed Release — Here’s Why

Samsung delays Galaxy Ring 2 amid weak sales and patent disputes, focusing instead on successful wearables like the Galaxy Watch for future growth.

Samsung’s Galaxy Ring was highly anticipated as a smart wearable device, but it received a lukewarm response in the market. Despite more than a year and a half having passed since the launch of the first generation, there have been no leaks about a second version, leaving the future of the Galaxy Ring 2 uncertain.

According to industry sources cited by the Korea JoongAng Daily, Samsung is not expected to unveil the Galaxy Ring 2 at its Galaxy Unpacked event in February 2026, as the company reassessss its strategy for the device. However, its development may continue due to its unique health-tracking benefits.

The ring is embroiled in a patent dispute between Samsung and Ora, a smart ring manufacturer. The issue began last month when Ora filed a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission seeking a sales ban on Samsung and other companies for alleged patent infringement. Samsung responded with a lawsuit in Texas accusing Ora of patent infringement, maintaining that it had not infringed on Ora’s rights.

Although the report did not directly link the dispute to Samsung's reassessment of the ring, the circumstances suggest that the dispute, along with weak sales and technical limitations, is affecting the priority of developing the Galaxy Ring 2, especially given Samsung's success with other wearable devices such as the Galaxy Watch, which has broader capabilities.
